Verizon is offering a new wireless plan with unlimited data for $fourscore per month.

The wireless carrier launched a new program Monday that offers unlimited data, talk fourth dimension and texts for $80 per month for the start line when you select automatic payments. Customers tin can add upwards to four more lines for $45 per month each.
The program is available to both new and existing customers.
Verizon, which stopped offer an unlimited plan seven years ago, is the final of the major national carriers to bring the option back. AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint already offer it in some class or another. For years, Verizon has resisted, insisting that its customers don't demand so much data. Its new movement underscores heightened contest, which is always adept for consumers.
"The shift in strategy was dictated by marketplace weather," said Jefferies analyst Mike McCormack.
The plan arrives equally T-Mobile and Sprint have been trumpeting their unlimited plans. T-Mobile in item has doubled down on its support for unlimited, eliminating all of its tiered options.
Verizon took a veiled shot at T-Mobile, which drew criticism because information technology killed off more affordable options when it switched to unlimited merely. (T-Mobile has said it mitigated some of the impact by "removing" taxes and fees from customers' bills.)

A primal difference in Verizon's plan is the ability to watch streaming videos in high definition. T-Mobile and Dart's unlimited plans tweak the video and so it requires less data and creates less traffic on their networks. Verizon said information technology upgraded its network to handle the expected bump in traffic from unlimited data users. On Monday, the company also offered a free phone to anyone who signs up for the program and trades in an existing phone.
The sudden back up of unlimited marks a reversal of its attitude over the past few years. Just last month, Verizon was promoting its 5GB-per-month plan, insisting that it was enough for almost customers. Both Verizon and AT&T ended their previous unlimited offers in 2010, though many customers have clung to grandfathered plans.
The plan is billed as unlimited, only there is an asterisk. Verizon notes that subsequently customers reach a 22GB threshold each month, their data usage may autumn in priority behind other customers during network congestion. AT&T offers a similar caveat to its programme. Sprint's limit is 23GB, and T-Mobile gives you 28GB before it starts to manage the speed of your connection.
T-Mobile CEO John Legere tweeted that Verizon's unlimited programme might be "most expensive ever," one time taxes and fees are added.
Sprint said Verizon is only playing catch-upwards. Terminal week, Dart introduced a promotion for its own unlimited data plan. Only there'south a catch for that likewise. The promotional toll ends after the commencement year.
The price of Verizon's plan will not become up after a yr, a Verizon spokesman said.
